The welder fabricator has to have skills and knowledge of how to form lay outs, fabricate metal assemblies, and weldments. Has to be familiar with structural welding, forming and various other fabrication processes. The welder fabricator has to use technical drawings and various other specs and verbal instructions for planning and accomplishing the goal. Such professionals inspect their own work and also have to meet deadlines. Duties primarily involve welding processes but also include operating basic hand tools, component assembly, operating metal fabrication equipment including saws, drills, grinders that are associated with structural steel fabrication.

Duties, Skills, and Responsibilities:

  • All employees are required to work safely and report any injury immediately
  • Cutting and joining metal parts for fabricating or repairing vehicle equipment, furniture, tools and various other articles, applying tools like mig-welder, plasma cutter, arc welder, chop saw, oxyacetylene torch etc
  • Designing and fabricating the equipment and parts for meeting the special or unusual needs, using the manufacturer specifications, calculator, measuring devices, drawings etc
  • Installing or removing any special equipment like paint machine, grinder, power and hand tools etc
  • Designing and creating holding jigs that aid in fabrication of the parts in various numbers
  • Maintaining a record of all the work completed so as to facilitate the accounting activities
  • Maintaining routine inventory supplies that are used for operating the welding unit via inspection of stocks and ordering fresh stock as and when required
  • Fabricate Handrails, Gates and Metal grates
  • Heavy equipment maintenance repair welding
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work in concert with others
  • Knowledge of the properties and characteristics of metals used for cutting, welding and forming objects and of various welding fluxes and rods
  • Knowledge of safety precautions related to occupational hazards, procedures and practices of the trade
  • Skilled in identifying the proper power and hand tools in the safest possible manner and various equipment
  • Skilled in operating at least some type of vehicle, and heavy equipment etc
  • Any other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Three plus years of experience
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors, managers and customers
  • Ability to produce quality work
  • Ability to work during evenings, weekends, or irregular hours will be required based on schedule
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be able to provide legal right to work in the U.S. as BBAC participates in E-Verify
  • Must be able to pass a drug test
  • Possess a valid driver's license preferred but not required
  • Bilingual is a plus
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Basic knowledge of welding symbols and blueprint reading skills
  • Ability to work with complicated welding tools like ox-fuel, plasma, mag-drills, chainsaws etc

Physical Abilities:

  • Ability to lift 50 (+ -) pounds or be able to ask for assistance
  • Ability to twist, turn and bend continuously
  • Ability to push, pull and carry objects
  • Ability to shovel using hands, arms and back to complete task
  • Ability to carry small to large tools in and around jobsite
  • Ability to stand and kneel for long periods of time (about 90% of the time walking, standing, or kneeling)
  • Ability to perform small detailed tasks

Work environment:

  • Exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles such as dust, dirt, fumes, etc
  • Ability to work in an external environment and under many weather conditions such as frigid cold, and exposure to vibration and/or loud noise
  • Employer will provide appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed, but will be the responsibility of the employee to dress appropriately for the weather conditions
