Concrete Finishers / Form Setters prime responsibility will be to screed concrete according to elevations provided per specified depth. Ability to finish concrete for consistency, smooth and finish surfaces of poured concrete, such as floors, walks, sidewalks, roads, retaining walls, and curbs using a variety of hand and power tools. Align forms for sidewalks, curbs, or gutters; patch voids; use saws to cut expansion joints. May direct subgrade work, mixing of concrete and setting of forms. Will work directly under the superintendent. Must be able to follow direction of management to meet all company policies.


Duties, Skills, and Responsibilities:

  • All employees are required to work safely and report any injury immediately
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Ability to lead and manage people
  • Ability to read survey stakes and lay-out project
  • Must be able to turn in daily, weekly, monthly reports
  • Must be able to perform pre-task plan meetings to crews
  • Oversight of 5+ employees
  • Must be able to direct, assign tasks, and coach employees when needed
  • Must be able to read budgets and create project plans to meet budget
  • Must have the ability to produce and complete jobs on time and on budget
  • Ensure all materials are on site prior to crews arrival
  • Check-in and out any power tools as needed
  • Responsible for any tools assigned to them
  • Set concrete forms to the desired slope and depth
  • Muck concrete, using rake or shovel to desired concrete depth
  • Ability to work with others to screed concrete
  • Monitor how wind, heat, or cold affect the curing of the concrete throughout the entire process
  • Produce quality work on concrete surfaces
  • Should be able to cut control joints, using straight edge and jointer
  • Signal truck driver to position truck to facilitate pouring concrete, and moving chute to direct concrete in forms
  • Apply curing and sealing compounds to concrete surfaces
  • Operate power vibrators to remove voids
  • Chip, scrape, and grind high spots, ridges, and rough projections to finish concrete, using pneumatic chisels, power grinders, and hand tools
  • Cut out damaged areas, drill holes for reinforcing dowels, using a hammer drill
  • Install imbeds (anchor bolts, steel plates, door sills, and other fixtures) as specified
  • Ability to stamp concrete surfaces to provide a decorative finish
  • Pour grade beams, columns, and pilasters
  • Operate power trowels
  • Any other duties as assigned



  • Five plus years of experience
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Must have at least two years management experience within the construction field
  • Must be able to identify and coach safety risks
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors, managers and customers
  • Ability to lead a team
  • Must be able to furnish form setting and finishing tools
  • Ability to produce quality work
  • Ability to work during evenings, weekends, or irregular hours that will be required based on schedule
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be able to provide legal right to work in the U.S. as BBAC participates in E-Verify
  • Must be able to pass a drug test
  • Required to have a valid driver’s license
  • Must have a clean motor vehicle record
  • Bilingual is a plus


Physical Abilities:

  • Ability to lift 50 (+ -) pounds or be able to ask for assistance
  • Ability to twist, turn and bend continuously
  • Ability to push, pull and carry objects
  • Ability to shovel using hands, arms and back to complete task
  • Ability to carry small to large tools in and around jobsite
  • Ability to stand and kneel for long periods of time (about 90% of the time walking, standing, or kneeling)
  • Ability to perform small detailed tasks


Work environment:

  • Exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles such as dust, dirt, fumes, etc
  • Ability to work in an external environment and under many weather conditions such as frigid cold, and exposure to vibration and/or loud noise
  • Employer will provide appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed, but will be the responsibility of the employee to dress appropriately for the weather conditions
