Asphalt Division Manager

This position manages the labor and equipment resources and operations of the asphalt paving division. Will report directly to the Director of Construction and the COO. Will work alongside Project Manager and Sales Executive to ensure success that projects are completed on time and on budget. Creating future projects and a successful partnership with clients. The Division Manager will also uphold and perform as a role model of all safety standards in and out of the office.



 



Duties:




  • All employees are required to work safely and report any injury

  • Ability to report accidents and incident reports and document (pictures, and forms) submit to safety administration

  • Ability to manage labor and equipment resources within the asphalt division

  • Ability to order materials with vendors

  • Must take time to plan safety/team meetings weekly

  • Ability to fill out Critical Behavior Observations (CBO’s) and site safety review, submit % completes to safety administrator

  • Ability to review daily time sheets for accurate PO and job numbers

  • Ability to turn in daily time sheets and related documents daily

  • Ability to verify crew’s with the appropriate budget prior to starting the job on a regular basis

  • Ability of updating project managers and scheduling of any changes to the project day to day

  • Ability to monitor daily scheduling to maximize production: review daily revenue goals vs actual

  • Ability of setting a five week look ahead, weekly

  • Ability to update time force, paper work is correct and turned in daily, DVIR’s are collected and turned in daily, and time punches are complete and correctly entered daily 

  • Ability to review new construction and heavy maintenance bids regularly

  • Ability to set expectations and maintain quality in all functions constantly

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superintendents, other employees, and the general public

  • Must provide human resources with hiring needs

  • Ability to make final decisions of hiring needs

  • Ability to network with various departments to provide support as needed

  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and manage ones schedule with minimal supervision

  • Ability to performs other related duties as required and assigned

  • Working during evenings, weekends, or irregular hours will be required based on schedule

Requirements:




  • MS/Excel office and Outlook proficient

  • Clean driving record

  • This position requires the ability to prioritize, organize, and manage one's schedule with minimal supervision

  • Extensive vehicle travel is required for the position. This position is not an office role; therefore, the majority of time will be spent in the field               

  • Frequently works in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat or cold. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs and perform some physical tasks including but not limited to walking, sitting, bending, reaching, pointing, grasping, lifting, and carrying



 



Education:




  • Requires a high school diploma

  • May substitute a degree in Construction, Business  or related fields for years of experience - up to 5 years



 



Work Experience:




  • At least 10 years in a related field capacity and experience of variety paving maintenance products
